Destinations International has reached a legal settlement with former CEO Michael Gehrisch concerning alleged breach of contract, the association announced Friday.
Gehrisch sued DI (formerly Destination Marketing Association International) in 2016 for stopping payments to him after he left the group the year before. The former CEO said he was entitled to a year's salary after his departure under the terms of his contract.
DI countersued Gehrisch, alleging financial mismanagement and fraud while he was CEO. The association announced in a statement Friday that the two parties had agreed to "settle and dismiss the lawsuit," but offered few other details.
"The parties wish to resolve this dispute, to put it behind them and to focus on their future endeavors," DI said.
The terms of the settlement will be kept confidential, the association added.
After Gehrisch's departure, DI hired former Choose Chicago head Don Welsh as CEO. The group reported $8.6 million in revenue and 20 staff in its most recent tax filings.
